Jim Hirsch, Associate Superintendent for Technology, Plano ISD (TX) Talks About Version 2.0 of Data driven Decision Making
Data driven decision making, like all technologies, continues to evolve as new understandings become available and new system capabilities become known. (then link to the rest of the text and the PPT )
Data driven decision making, like all technologies, continues to evolve as new understandings become available and new system capabilities become known. Data "driven" has now become data "informed" as most K-12 institutions have adopted formal policies governing the need to include the gathering and study of data before recommendations and decisions are made.
Likewise, new tools and techniques have brought forward the concept of performance management in schools. Data no longer must be viewed and used in its first gathered form. New analytical tools along with proven models and presentation methods now allow previously unrelated variables affecting student achievement to be thoughtfully considered in the broader context of the full learning environment. This exciting capability implies that hard to measure indicators such as teacher efficacy can now be included in a model that more accurately informs the results of various student interventions. Version 2.0 of the D3M project is ready to be unveiled!
